Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the past two decades, general surgery has been completely revolutionized with the introduction, discovery and launch of new ultrasound-guided surgical techniques, new laparoscopic and robotic devices and new oncological treatment options.

Furthermore, oncological surgery requires close collaboration with diverse medical specialities like radiology, oncology, and pathology, forming a multidisciplinary team crucial for improving patient outcomes.

Concurrently, technological advancements, especially in Artificial Intelligence, have significantly influenced our lives.

As technology evolves across all fields, it impacts our approaches to surgical management, training, and indications. Therefore, it is our responsibility to investigate new frontiers in diagnosis and treatment.

We should investigate the benefits of technology, with a particular focus on minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery, even in emergencies. Additionally, integrated oncological therapies, interventional radiology, and the implications of artificial intelligence and radiomics will improve our understanding in the near future.

In light of the above, this Special Issue aims to present a collection of cutting-edge manuscripts, including original contributions and review articles. This cutting-edge research will assess the association between surgery and various medical fields, with particular interest in interventional radiology, radiomics, pathomics, and oncological therapies, potentially changing our current surgical approaches

We will be grateful to all colleagues who choose to contribute to this relevant topic.
