Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Orthograde Endodontics can resolve various clinical problems through the shaping, cleaning, and obturation phases. However, in particular cases, combining endodontic treatment with surgical treatment is essential to repair the tooth. Examples of clinical situations that require such an approach include external resorptions, lesions that do not heal with orthograde treatment alone, and severe calcifications.

Certainly, in-depth clinical and instrumental examinations can help organize a correct treatment plan in complex endodontic cases. For instance, one useful technology is 3D cone beam computed tomography radiology. This technique allows the visualization of details that cannot be seen with basic radiology, such as the localization of lesions, fractures, lesions of the maxillary sinus, complex anatomies, accessory roots, resorptions, etc. Furthermore, other modern technologies, such as the operating microscope, ultrasonic tips, etc., contribute to increasing the success rate in the treatment of complex cases.

This Special Issue focuses on the surgical treatment of complex endodontic cases and welcomes original articles, short communications, and review articles.
